Political Ads Contain Half-Truths

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Janice Boswell was shocked to learn that the political ads running incessantly on her television may contain half-truths or even outright falsehoods. “I was just so disappointed to learn that certain candidates supported starving children and killing the elderly,” Janice relayed. “What kind of monster would support things like that?”

Fortunately, Mrs. Boswell’s concerns were allayed when her granddaughter came to visit. “Abby explained to me that there were no candidates who actually want to starve children or kill old people and they just put things like that in political ads to try to get votes. I was relieved, of course, but I am also quite angry that they would lie to me.”
